The medicine of Cacao's effects on the human body & spirit are profound & well documented.

Physiologically, it contains several important compounds:

Theobromine: Causes vasodilation, increasing blood flow throughout the body
Phenylethylamine: A precursor to serotonin, promoting feelings of wellbeing

Anandamides: Named after the Sanskrit word for bliss, these compounds contribute to cacao's mood-enhancing effects

From a spiritual perspective, medicine plants are seen as conduits for Cosmic intelligence. They carry specific wisdom coded into their DNA, acting as bridges between the divine & the earthly realms. Myths & stories of knowledge carried deep in their cells to be accessed by the people inhabiting Mother Earth.

Cacao, known as "food of the gods," has been revered in ancient cultures for millennia. From the Mayans to the Aztecs, & the Andean traditions, Cacao has played a crucial role in spiritual & communal practices.

Ixcacao(pron: Ishcacao) the Goddess of Chocolate returned to her people, as both the fertility goddess who stood watch over the fields of corn & saw that her people were fed, but also as a queen of love & pleasure.

Though she seldom made a public appearance in the myths, Ixcacao, the Mayan Goddess of Chocolate, had been loved by the common folk as a compassionate goddess of abundance.

Cacao is considered an entheogen ~ which means it’s a Sacred Substance that brings you closer to God. Used for thousands of years in Ceremony & Ritual as a way of connecting to the Sacred Plant Spirit of Cacao; a Higher Source ~ that can give us a greater perspective on life & help us to see our way creatively through challenges & change.

My journey with cacao

From the beginning, working with Mumma Cacao was for a specific intentional purpose - I just didn’t realise how that would change over time, the more I communed with her.

As the medicine of the Heart, I first started sitting with Ixcacao to stay connected to the bridge between Earth & Spirit. As a budding Psychic, being connected to my heart was part of my work. It was a non negotiable. As with all learnings, I used Mumma Cacao to help facilitate that connection. To return to my own wisdom. To continue to hear the guidance my heart provided me. To have a deep connection to the conversation centre of Spirit for my Clients.

I found an online community that sat in Ceremony with Cacao twice a month. 2 Live ceremonies. (which is all I did initially)

The deep connection I felt to my heart was profound & I started to sit with pre-recorded ceremonies before I had clients for the day.

This community held a library of all the ceremonies they had performed, so I could sit with Cacao whenever it suited me. Which started with 2 times per month ~ to when I had clients ~ to when I didn’t have clients, but wanted to connect to my heart for my own wisdom.

For 3 years, my relationship with Mumma Cacao grew deeper. With humility & respect for her, I started to ask more questions ~ wanting to know why & how the ceremonies were held the way they were. When the Ceremony Facilitator suggested Mumma Cacao was calling me to work deeper with her, it was a full body YES.

TRAINING AS A CACAO CEREMONIALIST

In respect of the Indigenous lineage of Ixcacao & the story of this plant medicine ~ it was important for me to train under an appropriate mentor & teacher.

The Andean Cosmovision is a powerful, living tradition that views life as a constant sacred ceremony. All things are interconnected & it’s important for us to live in harmony with the Earth, cosmos & all beings.

The 7 Rays Lineage of Maestro Puma, Maestro Sebastion & Maestra Jemmita has been a lesson in their way of living ~ not just pouring Cacao into a cup. It has been a lesson in seeing my daily life as a ceremony. The humility & reverence of our own soul’s journey. The love we cultivate for ourselves & others, our community & our connections. It has transformed how I live, who I honour & how I BE.

This isn’t so I can take you on a meditation journey with hot chocolate….. This is my way of being.
